Twelve Punjab Police officers have been suspended and transferred from Patiala after being accused of attacking Colonel Pushpinder Singh Bath and his son on the night of March 13-14. A new case (FIR No. 69) has been filed at Civil Lines police station based on Colonel Bath’s statement, which names the officers and describes their roles in the assault.
A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to investigate the case quickly and fairly. The SIT, led by S.P.S. Parmar (Additional Director General of Police for Law and Order), also includes Sandeep Malik (Senior Superintendent of Police, Hoshiarpur) and Manpreet Singh (Superintendent of Police, Rural, SAS Nagar). The team will investigate daily to collect evidence and take legal action against the officers involved.
To ensure transparency, the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Patiala Range has ordered the immediate transfer of the accused officers. All 12 officers have been suspended, and steps are being taken for further punishment.
In the meantime, the Additional Director General of Police (Security) has been asked to provide protection to Colonel Bath and his family.
