₹10 Crore Development Projects: Work on 13 Major Roads in Mohali Constituency Has Almost Begun—MLA Kulwant Singh

Advises Opposition Leaders not to Mislead the Public

Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, 20 September:

Road infrastructure projects of ₹10 crores have been started in the S.A.S. Nagar (Mohali) constituency, according to a statement made today by Mohali MLA Kulwant Singh. Work has begun in certain locations and is expected to commence in the remaining locations within the next week. Tenders have been issued for a total of 13–14 key roadways.

According to him, this initiative is an important move by the Bhagwant Singh Mann administration to improve Mohali’s road connectivity and infrastructure, which will benefit locals and commuters in the long run. Some of the roads that were selected are being widened from 10 to 12 feet to 18 feet, which took more time to plan and get approval for. The job is currently underway, despite early setbacks brought on by technical talks and monsoon rains,” he stated.

Speaking to the media, MLA Kulwant Singh commented that some opposition leaders are trying to gain fame by simply filling potholes here and there. He said that people are well aware that large-scale road construction can only be done through proper government planning and funding, not for fame. He added, “Instead of misleading the public with such theatrics, the opposition should accept that tenders have been issued, funds have been sanctioned, and work is truly underway in the Mohali constituency.”

Providing details on the scope of the work, the MLA said that clauses for repair and reinforcement have been included in the tender, making the contractors accountable for any future damages. He further assured that monitoring mechanisms are in place to ensure quality and timely completion.

MLA Kulwant Singh stated that the major roads being built under this ₹10 crore development initiative include the Landran-Kharar-Chappar Chiri Khurd road, Kharar-Banur road, Tangori road (at a cost of ₹2.5 crores), Shekhan Majra-Kurdan road, Raipur-Andhrali road, Tangori-Manakpur Kalan road, Jhanjeri-Alipur road, the road near Bakarpur-Safipur, Gige Majra-Jatana road, Chachu Majra-Bakarpur-Jhungian road including the road near Gurdwara Sahib, the Sector-82 to Manoli road, Dau to Ramgarh road, and Landran road.

He added that work is already in progress on the Sector-89 road and the CP-67 Airport road. The condition of the Phase-3 road is also being investigated to understand why it deteriorated so quickly despite being newly constructed. The responsibility of the concerned contractors or officials will be fixed.

“With the completion of these projects, almost 90 per cent of the roads in the Mohali constituency will be upgraded, benefiting thousands of daily commuters and boosting overall development,” said MLA Kulwant Singh.

He also thanked the people of Mohali for their patience and apologised for the inconvenience caused by the delays due to technical adjustments and weather conditions.
