Punjab: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has criticized the removal of two Sikh religious leaders, calling it an act of “revenge.”
The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), which manages Sikh temples, recently removed Giani Raghbir Singh as Jathedar (head) of the Akal Takht in Amritsar and Giani Sultan Singh as Jathedar of Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib in Anandpur Sahib.
These are two of the five highest religious seats in Sikhism.
Mann expressed his disapproval on Saturday, a day after the decision was made.
