Amritsar: A man from Haryana attacked employees of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) and some devotees with an iron rod at Guru Ram Dass Serai in the Golden Temple on Friday. Four people, including two SGPC sewadars, were injured.
The man was seen behaving suspiciously, and when the SGPC staff asked for his identity, he argued with them. They asked him to leave, but he returned with an iron rod and attacked them. Devotees who tried to stop him were also injured.
The accused, identified as Zulfan from Haryana, was overpowered and handed over to the police. SHO Sarmel Singh said an investigation is ongoing to find out the reason behind the attack.
