The picture is said to have undergone more changes; the board is apparently requiring 120 cuts—up from the original 85—before it can be approved for distribution. Concerning Punjab 95:
It has been reported that the Revising Committee, led by CBFC chairman Prasoon Joshi, has ordered a number of important alterations, including renaming the movie Sutlej, after the river that unifies Punjab. Jaswant Singh Khalra’s character is also anticipated to alter his name, a decision that the movie’s producers have opposed.
A source said, “The filmmakers argued that removing Khalra’s name would not only be disrespectful to his legacy but also diminish the film’s significance as a biopic.” Concerns were also voiced by the CBFC about how the movie would affect public opinion if it was connected to actual events.
